Black Panther #16 by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Chris Sprouse, Karl Story, Walden Wong, Dexter Vines, Laura Martin & Andrew Crossley – A meeting with his Wakandan counselors may be foreshadowing of a future problem down the line but T’Challa’s mind is also in NYC where one of his subjects Asira (Divine Justice from the Priest run) has been kidnapped. The trail leads to a supervillain club and Black Panther’s on the hunt. And as I say Divine, Storm continues her scouting and what she discovers has dark portents for the future…
Captain America: Sam Wilson #24 by Nick Spencer, Donny Cates, Joe Bennett, Joe Pimentel & Matt Yackey – With the Underground crushed from betrayal within and Hydra without, Sam is left wondering what his role truly is. This issue is a great recap for Sam’s series so far but it is Misty Knight and the new Patriot who steal this issue right out from under Sam. Their arguments are so real to fit times today, it scary.
Moon Girl Devil Dinosaur #21 by Brandon Montclare. Natacha Bustos & Tamra Bonvillain – Bounced to a mirror universe by Illa and now face to face with Devil Girl, Lunella must come to grips with her own shortcomings. Meanwhile DoomBot is being Doombot and the Lunella copies are getting to be a little unpredictable.
Occupy Avengers #9 by David F Walker, Gabriel Hernandez Walta & Jordie Bellaire – The team has had minor success in rounding up supplies and manpower but this will come to an end. Hydra knows about them and are taking precautions. Tilda and Wolf will have their hands full as Hydra surrounds both parts of the plan to gain support and supplies. Series going out with a bang…
Secret Empire #7 by Nick Spencer, Andrea Sorrentino, Rod Reis, Joshua Cassara & Rachelle Rosenberg – The Underground lies crushed and broken. Black Widow has one goal in mind for her and her young charges: assassinate Steve Rogers and her group, which includes Miles & Nadia, are definitely of two minds on this one. Especially since he’s about to give a speech on the steps of the capital. Wait. Assassinate Rogers? Miles? Washington D.C.? This seems awfully familiar.. In other news, Carol has a heart to heart with the comatose Quasar and “the other” Steve finally comes to blows with the Red Skull…
Captain America: Steve Rogers #19 by Nick Spencer, Donny Cates, Javier Pina, Andres Guinaldo & Rachelle Rosenberg – After the attempt on his life by the Underground and the subsequent one by his prisoner, coupled by the loss of Elisa (Madame Hydra) Steve is now unhinged. And when leaders get unhinged, they get unpredictable. Just check out Steve’s convo with The Odinson here as proof. In the words of Milhouse Van Houten, “We are at the tipping point here people…”
Faith & The Future Force #1 by Jody Houser, Stephen Segovia, Barry Kitson & Ulises Arreola – Dr. Neela Sethi, Timewalker, along with her partner Ank, needs help against an evil robot messing with the timestream. They recruit Faith Herbert for assistance and you know what that means? Get ready for a whole bunch of Doctor Who & geek related jokes here folks ESPECIALLY under the pen of Ms Houser.
