New Super Man & The Justice League of China 20 by Gene Luen Yang, Brent Peeples, Matt Santorelli, Dave Sharpe & Hi-Fi – The start of a new era? The Justice League of China strikes out on their own but there are forces not too happy about this. Prepare for the Lanterns to be unleashed and on top of that, seems there’s a man controlling sea creatures outside of Korea. Yeah. The inverted mirror of superheroics continues while Kenan might have discovered a new admirer.

How that’s going to be relevant in the future is unknown BUT knowing Giffen and DeMatteis, this is going to lead to something wicked. In the backup story, brains are being stolen from academia so who are you going to call? Secret Squirrel.

So what happens when he crosses paths with an old foe/flame? Titans Fans, I think you know who I am talking about. Now as that is going down, Donna is still coming to grips with her new situation and the team’s status is in limbo.
Michael Cray 5 by Bryan Edward Hill, Larry Hama, N. Steven Harris, Dexter Vines, Andy Owens, Dearbhla Kelly & Simon Bowland – Another inverted DC Universe take and boy is this one a doozy! Running on a similar line as New Super-Man, there’s a town playing host to an aquatic “god” and of course, Cray and his team gets called in to investigate. One problem: he still doesn’t trust his team. So he’s going in with only one member. Yeah. That’s not going to come back and bite him.
Amazing Spider-Man Renew Your Vows 16 by Jody Houser, Nathan Stockman, Ruth Redmond & VC’s Joe Caramagna – After the Lizard situation, The Parker Family tries to return back to some semblance of normal but when your young teenage daughter has spider powers along with teen angst…how normal can you truly be? Falcon 5 by Rodney Barnes, Joshua Cassara, Rachelle Rosenberg & VC’s Joe Caramagna – The aftermath of the battle with Blackheart and Sam’s escape from hell . . . literally. Marvel Two In One 3 by Chip Zdarsky, Valerio Schiti, Frank Martin, VC’s Joe Caramagna, Carlos Pacheco & Rafael Fonteriz (back page) – Ben and Johnny are still trying to get their act back together. Unfortunately, the Marvel Universe has a way of not giving their heroes time to catch their breath. Ms Marvel 27 by G. Willow Wilson, Nico Leon, Ian Herring & VC’s Joe Caramagna – The Gang has to put off their search for Ms. Marvel to try and find “The Inventor”. A beloved member returns while Batman with the Justice League of America tries to stave off a disaster in the midst of a sprawling city. All this while new chairman of the league Cyborg has to face Congress. Nothing ever goes easy here.
Battlestar Galactica vs Battlestar Galactica 2 by Peter David, Johnny Desjardins, Mohan & Taylor Esposito – Battlestar Galactica Meets Battlestar Galactica here and if you are a fan of both shows, the differences are on full display especially when it comes to the Cylons. But you and I both know that the meeting we all want to see is Starbuck and Starbuck. Well worth the price of admission along with Apollo meeting Zarek. Love Peter David throwing fun curveballs in my reading. TOTALLY didn’t see him taking the story here.
Black Panther Annual 1 by (story 1) Christopher Priest, Mike Perkins & Andy Troy; (story 2) by Don McGregor & Daniel Acuna; (story 3) by Reginald Hudlin, Ken Lashley, Matt Milla & VC’s Joe Sabino – 3 of the Panther’s writing greats return for Panther tales across the spectrum. In the first, Mr. Priest continues some unfinished business from his run that sees Everett Ross going up against the Hatut Zeraze led by T’Challa’s adopted brother Hunter. Which then leads to a threat most personal for Ross. The second sees Mr. McGregor having T’Challa on a quest for something special for a longtime love. The final tale sees Grandfather T’Challa relating history to his granddaughter but in Hudlin fashion, pay close attention to the backgrounds for what T’Challa ISN’T saying.
Avengers 681 by Al Ewing, Jim Zub, Mark Waid, Kim Jacinto, Mike Perkins, David Curiel & VC’s Cory Petit – An origin or two gets revealed but I won’t tell precisely who’s. WHy? Because that’s the crux of the tale. As that is going on, the chase for the objects intensifies while an avenger gets closer to the edge of sanity. And if that isn’t enough, another set of Avengers makes a long awaited (at least by me) reappearance!

The team are in the midst of deciding their next course of action post-Diamondback. And well, the jokes keep flying. Thanks for a funny, action packed run here Mr. Bendis!
Luke Cage 170 by David F. Walker, Guillermo Sanna, Marcio Menyz & VC’s Joe Sabino – A Father giving his Daughter a bedtime story after a long tough day. Sounds like usual Americana right? Not when the daughter takes over the story. Someone strap Luke in for the twists & turns Danielle is about to take him on. A classic finale done here by Mr. Walker. An instant classic. Calling it now.
More books upcoming after all, I’ve only gone through half of the month here.
Until Next Time Folks, Keep Fantasizing!
