Out of the Package: Special Edition – Twenty Years Down . . .

|by Joe Gardner|

Greetings, friends! This particular installment of OOTP will have NOTHING to do with toys or collectibles. And, if I time this just right, it should also drop on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Which just so happens to be my Twentieth Wedding Anniversary to my lovely wife, Tina.

She’s the Mera to my Aquaman. The Mary Jane to my Spider-Man. The Leia to my Han. She has learned to endure my geekiness, but she’s also geeky in her own way. Especially when it comes to the small, furry, weird looking characters. Like Yoda, Alf, Snarf, Mogwai, Groot…you get the picture. I’m not quite sure what that says about me, though. She loves Star Wars, most of the Marvel movies, Wonder Woman, and a lot of the dorky stuff she won’t admit to liking. Probably because she knows she’s outnumbered by Madison and me.

So, twenty years married, nearly twenty-four together. What’s the secret, you may ask? You tough it out. You talk. You argue and fight, when you need to. You give each other space, also when you need to. You agree, you disagree, you compromise. You have each other’s back. She hasn’t always been my favorite person, and I KNOW I haven’t always been her favorite person. But here we are. You make things work. You don’t give up.

As a little surprise for her, and a treat for y’all, I had our old wedding VHS tapes digitized. They’re from two different sources, so two different videos. And they are a little long, so I forgive you if you don’t watch the entirety. Enjoy!

There you have it. Happy Twentieth to my wife! And here’s to twenty plus more!

Until next time, you’ll find me in the toy aisle.

Joe Gardner is a geek. ‘Nuff said. Maybe a couple more tidbits? M’kay: his hair growth rivals Wolverine’s. Oh, and he has quite the mancrush on Aquaman.
